Blah Blah Blah

It seems we have two “talkers” in our home! Shilo has really started to babble. She’s quite fun to have a conversation with about practically anything. She is starting to love to talk to others and seems to really like expressing her thoughts out loud to herself while she plays on the floor. She’s a little hard to understand since she loves to shove her fingers in her mouth at the same time though. ^_~ It’s so fun to listen to her babble, and see Kayley talk to her too.

Shilo loves to sit and watch what's going on

I think Kayley is starting to store up a vocabulary so that when she decides to talk in sentences the way we talk, she is going to have a whole long paragraph come out of her mouth. She likes to point at things or pictures of things and ask what they are. And she has you do it over and over and over again to make sure she is remembering it correctly (or because she wants to see how many times we are willing to repeat it back to her. She probably has a bet with one of her friends from church about how many times she can get us to say the same thing repeatedly). It’s been super fun and yet sometimes frustrating to see how Kayley is developing verbally. I say frustrating because she had many words for different things that sounds basically the same, but are 100% different to her and she gets frustrated (and so do we) when things are lost in translation. For example: Her word for Mama, Maimie, mermaid, more and mine all sounds similar. As do her words for cooking, kick, and cookie. And her word for cracker can also just mean she’s hungry or she is showing you food (real or pretend). But it’s fun to watch and see how she decides to label things and what she decides to try and say (if you ask her to say the name of an animal, she will only tell you what sound it makes, which is very good of course, but not the animals name).

On another development note, Shilo has just figured out how to roll from her back to her side!
