Packing and Retirement

Friday was the day to finish up packing the rest of my mom’s belongings so on Saturday it could all be put into the truck. We started semi-early and even cleaned behind and under the oven and fridge. A few friends were able to stop by and say hi, and we generous enough to bring Togo’s for lunch (I really really wish we had Togos in the Seattle area…). After Kayley warmed up to my friends she was happy to play with them and share her toys. I’m really glad I was able to see some of my friends during our whirlwind packing trip.

After everything had been packed, and the truck was picked up, we all headed off to church for the retirement party worship ministries was throwing for my mom.  There were so many people there to support her and say goodbye. Todd (my mom’s now old boss) planned a wonderful evening. People were able to share how my mom had touched their lives and give her their best wishes, Todd lead everyone in singing some of my mom’s favorite worship songs, and we all prayed over my mom. Thank you all for supporting my mom in her next big change and chapter in her life!

Kayley and her cousin Adelyn had a fun time playing on the stairs during much of the evening. But at the end of the night, Kayley was super hyper and having a blast chasing Todd around while she laughed and yelled with joy. She laid down for a short bit, nearly falling asleep (it was past bedtime), but then got up with a second wind and continued to chase Todd. It was rather hysterical to watch.

Happy retirement, mom! You were and still are a big positive influence to many people including me ^_^. Thank you for all your love, encouragement and spiritual guidance!
